In 1963, Birmingham, Alabama was the epicenter of the American Civil Rights Movement. Activists like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, Rev. Ralph Abernathy, Sr., and countless unnamed heroes gathered there to demand equality for all people, and to integrate all aspects of society. Students turn the problems around them into ideas and opportunities, and gain transformational knowledge, that helps them beyond school!

Please donate generously and help us with our mission! We are actively seeking funds for the following:

  1. Start a dedicated Children’s Innovation Center, to train teachers/mentors, as well as have classrooms for students
  2. Deliver many after-school programs at schools and city community facilities, at locations closer to the students

We recognize that owning a stable home is a huge part of Quality of Life and provides stability for the future.

As we say: Homestead has operated by the "pay-it-forward" model since our founding in 1992. In exchange for the significant down payment assistance that Homestead provides, you agree to pass on the good deal to the next eligible buyer. Homestead’s resources reduce your home price by $50,000 to $100,000 compared to houses on the same block, and the “investment” just keeps giving when or if you choose to sell your home. The assistance is not a loan that you are responsible for repaying (as long as you sell your home to another income-qualified household). You earn a reasonable amount of equity during the time you own your home – an incremental increase in value, plus paying off the principle of your mortgage – without pricing the next modest-income household out of the market.

RKLEF was established in May 14, 2002 by nine men interested in consolidating their efforts in mentoring youth while uplifting humanity through charitable, educational, and social activities. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Rho Kappa Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. seated in Duluth, Georgia.

The mission of RKLEF is to aid “downtrodden humanity” in its efforts to achieve social, economic and intellectual status by funding educational programs, social activities, seminars, and support groups who provide services to children, adult individuals and families. The foundation has helped young men and women, ages 11-21 years, who are seeking to be leaders and attend college. We also provide educational, motivational and skill building tools on issues of responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. In additional to helping the youth, RKLEF also helps in creating economic development in the community and provides viable opportunities for positive change. The foundation is based upon three primary values: Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all mankind.

Since 2012, RKLEF has awarded 30 Scholarships totaling over $30,000.  We provide Individual and Group Mentoring of neighborhood youths.  We have sponsored College Tours and hosted annual financial education workshops for the metro-Atlanta area.

We encourage and welcome support of our programs from community members and the business community.  Donations to the RKL Education Foundation, Inc are tax deductible.

When science-based info is missing or overlooked by WDFW, we unabashedly present detailed documentation on species and habitats present as well as impacts of the proposal. And if a permit is approved without appropriate provisions or in violation of state law, we take legal action by appealing the permit. Every bulkhead permit. Every dock permit. Every marina, float or buoy permit. Every dredging proposal and every export facility permit... we review them all and take action if the permit issued didn’t have proper habitat protections or when required regulations weren’t applied. Each year we review more than 500 permits and filed approximately 50 appeals, with most having a positive resolution.

The Indigenous Institute is a non-profit organization that provides aspiring education that assists Indigenous People in achieving their Creator-given potential while enriching their lives.

There is much to honor and respect in Indigenous communities today – but for far too many of our people, life has been filled with heartache, pain and sadness. A generational hopelessness has been embedded within our people, and resides within the souls of our communities. We must reverse this downward spiral of hopelessness, and replace it with a rekindled sense of hope.  For the sake of our ancestors, people, and our future.  Through an interactive educational partnership, we will empower Indigenous People to better recognize and more fully utilize their own unique innate abilities to choose growth, freedom and personal excellence for themselves and for the benefit of their families, communities, and nations.

Our partner in this initiative is the world renowned, Seattle-based, private educational corporation, The Pacific Institute, who will supply educational content and curriculum. Over the past 45 years The Pacific Institute has helped individuals and organizations across the world, in over 68 countries and in 28 different languages, improve their performance and reach their full potential. The Indigenous Institute has licensed this intellectual property and its derivatives and will deliver this life-changing body of knowledge directly to the Indigenous People.  The delivery of this education will Rekindle Hope and aspirations by “Unleashing Meaningful and Lasting Growth within our People!”

Our approach is to blend the universal concepts of cognitive and social sciences, as presented in our STEPS™ program, with the inherent and proud cultures and traditions of Indigenous Nations.

Through an interactive educational partnership with each individual tribal community, and keeping with the best practices as laid out in the, “United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,” The Indigenous Institute will deliver its life-changing curriculum while emphasizing the rights of Indigenous Peoples to maintain and strengthen their own institutions, cultures, traditions, and to pursue their development in keeping with their own needs and aspirations.

The Indigenous Institute will delivery its education in the following manner:

  • Building meaningful and respectful relationships with the Tribal Council, Elders, Spiritual and Community Leaders
  • Being invited into the community to present the education
  • Listening and learning about each individual tribe's unique heritage and circumstance, and designing the delivery of the education to meet their specific tribal needs
  • Training individuals within each tribal community to become teachers (facilitators) of the education
  • Assist in the facilitation of the education to the tribal members
  • Continued online and in-person follow-up to help enhance and maintain the learned curriculum
The Indigenous Institute uniquely designed the implementation of its education to help Indigenous Peoples and their communities to flourish, excel, and achieve fulfillment in their chosen personal and cultural context. We do this while keeping our VISION statement at the forefront of our minds: “Thriving, hopeful, healthy and sovereign Indigenous Peoples and Nations living their traditional way of life.”

Seeking: We are seeking grassroots seed funding and donations for this year’s initial funding phase and we need donations for our first year operations and our pilot projects for delivering our education to Indigenous Communities in North and South America.  These donations will help rekindle hope, providing education that is proven to raise hope, esteem and aspirations in Indigenous Communities to stop the downward spiral of hopelessness that leads to suicides and other social dysfunctions.

Transplant House provides a safe, convenient and affordable home-away-from-home for people who must uproot their lives and move to Seattle to await or recover from a life-saving transplant. An organ or stem cell transplant is about as serious a health crisis as it gets. Seattle is lucky to be the home of first-class medical facilities that provide life-saving transplant procedures and the months of follow-up care.

Not every area, like Alaska, Idaho, Oregon or Eastern Washington, offer transplant procedures, and so people travel to Seattle for these life-saving procedures. Faced with health concerns, financial worries and the emotional ups and downs, people from all walks of life come to Seattle worried about where they can afford to live. At Transplant House, we provide hope and a safe haven in the face of these incredible challenges.
